How do you clean steel after baking?
- Place a cool Baking Steel in the sink and run some water over it.
- Use a bench scraper or dough scrapper to remove stuck-on cheese or other big pieces of food.
- Apply dish soap to your Baking Steel and scrub with the backside of a sponge.
- Rinse your clean Baking Steel and dry it with a towel.
How do you remove rust from Baking Steel?
If the Baking Steel encounters water, it will encounter rust. Use something abrasive, such as an SOS pad or steel wool, to remove the rust. Once the rust is gone, you will need to re-season your Baking Steel.
How do you clean a steel plate for cooking?
Just lightly scour the Baking Steel until clean. Wipe off lightly to remove loose residue. If you don’t have a scrubbing brick, clean Baking Steel with a stiff nylon brush. Using soap is not recommended.
How do you get grease off pizza steel?
All you need is some high smoke point vegetable oil, such as soy, grape seed, or flaxseed oil. Spread a thin layer on the surface of the pizza steel. Then, wipe off any access oil using a paper towel. Next, place the pizza steel in a cold oven, and heat it at 400°F (200°C) for 30 minutes to an hour.
Can you leave baking steel in the oven?
Yes, you can leave your pizza stone or baking steel in the oven. Doing so can even out hot and cold spots on cheaper or older ovens. If you have a newer oven designed to distribute heat more evenly, you probably don’t really need to do this.
What can you use a baking steel for?
You can cook more pizzas at one time.
You can bake only pizza and one at a time on those. The larger surface of the baking steel means you can also use it bake bread, cook a steak, and even bake a batch of cookies.
Can you use both sides of baking steel?
It is EXTREMELY HOT! Your Baking Steel and Baking Steel Griddle have been pre-seasoned on both sides. Before the first use, wash and dry your steel thoroughly. Throw it in your oven or on the stove top and start cooking!
How do you clean a stainless steel pizza pan?

- Spray the pizza pans with Carbon-Off.
- Let them soak for 5 minutes.
- With the scouring pad, start scrubbing the pans until all of the build-up starts coming off.
- Clean the pans as you normally would.
- Re-season the pans with vegetable oil.
How do you clean carbon steel baking trays?
Wash your seasoned carbon steel cookware by hand with warm water. You can use a small amount of soap. If needed, use a pan scraper, scrub brush, or nonscratch pad. For stuck-on food, simmer a little water for 3-5 minutes, then use the scraper after the pan has cooled.
How do you season a steel oven?
Re-season your Baking Steel by washing in hot, soapy water and a stiff brush. Rinse and dry completely. Apply a dab of organic flax seed oil (we recommend Barleans) or cooking oil in the center of the Baking Steel. Use a paper towel to wipe oil around Baking Steel evenly.
